Welcome to La Jolla

Beautiful La Jolla lies along the Pacific coast between Pacific Beach and Del Mar. The affluent San Diego neighborhood is about 20 minutes north of downtown.

Originally settled by the Kumeyaay and then occupied by the Spanish, the area began to grow in the mid-18th century when La Jolla was incorporated into the city of San Diego.  It's believed that "La Jolla" is a misspelling of the Spanish word, "la joya," meaning "jewel."

La Jolla enjoys an average year-round temperature of 70 degrees and ample sunshine. The area offers stunning views, upscale shopping and dining and is home to the University of California, San Diego. The renowned Torrey Pines golf course is located in northern La Jolla.

Part of the San Diego Union School District, La Jolla provides local schools at all grade levels.
